Duncan – Heart of the Cowichan Valley
The smallest city by area in Canada happens to be Duncan. It is located on southern Vancouver Island in British Columbia. With the population of just 8000, this city acts as a bedroom community for the larger urban centers of Victoria and Nanaimo. Duncan sees a high influx of people from the neighboring areas and towns.

Duncan has several public elementary and middle schools where children are educated in the most professional manner. The city has two independent schools and for residents who wish to educate their children religiously is the independent catholic school, Queen of Angels and Duncan Christian School. Queen Margarets School is the local private school for boys pre-k to grade 8 and girls through grade 12. This premium school is well known worldwide for it’s equestrian program. In order to keep its residents healthy, Duncan regional hospital continues to evolve itself to cater to the needs of the community it serves.
Duncan maybe a small city but that did not stop it from providing its residents with opportunities of great shopping and dining. The city has several beautiful, scenic bed and breakfasts. Interestingly, this town was once considered a pit stop for fast food and gasoline but due to the farmers, restaurateurs, wine enthusiast residents, this town has become a hub for the foodie. The pace of life in this city is slightly faster than the neighboring towns of Chemainus, Ladysmith, Cowichan Bay and Mill Bay giving the residents a chance to relax and unwind while still enjoying a very active city.
Vancouver Island Motorsport Circuit
The best feature of the city for motorsport enthusiasts is the Vancouver Island Motorsport facility; a private membership club and a playground for motorsport enthusiasts. The motorsport facility is decked with circuits designed for Grand Prix, Clubhouse, storage units for cars of its members. With events happening year round at the motorsport facility, it’s members have little chance of getting bored. In a nutshell, there’s not a person who knows Duncan and yet would not want it to be his “home sweet home”.
